Things to do in the Barossa

Sightseeing in the Barossa? While we are all about the wine at Paisley, there are a lot of non wine activities you can enjoy during your stay.

Getting Around the Barossa

Go to the lookout at Menglers’ Hill, just 5 minutes drive from Paisley, to give you a Wow factor view! Whether you self drive or have someone take you up there, the views across the Barossa floor are fantastic, regardless of the season. The iconic Seppeltsfield Road, with its famous palm tree lined sections, is a beautiful stretch of road to travel while in Valley.

To see the biggest view of all, book a hot air balloon or helicopter flight. We recommend Balloon Adventures and Barossa Helicopters for excellent service and a great adventure.

Feel like getting a bit of exercise in while you are drinking and eating? You can bring your bike with you or hire one through Barossa Bike. A warning note, the Barossa is quite hilly and so an E-Bike might be the way to go if you are hiring!

Ideas for Non Wine Activities

Saturday Morning Farmer’s Markets – Taste with Kirsten at the Mt Pleasant Farmer’s Market about once a month (you can always check with Kirsten as to when she will next be there). This market is a genuine locals market, although a few tourists pop in for breakfast and a tasting from the Mt Pleasant Caravan Park right next door. The Barossa Farmer’s Market is also on weekly in Angaston.

Chocolate – We have not one but two Chocolate companies in the Barossa now… Check out Melba’s Chocolates in Angaston and Barossa Valley Chocolate Co in Tanunda.

Spirits – we have a couple of distilleries, if you are driving down Seppeltsfield Road, head to Seppeltsfield Road Distillers  or near Nuriootpa try Barossa Distilling.

Craft beer- visit Rehn Bier in Tanunda for a range of fantastic local beers

Food – a trip to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop is a highlight for many foodies. The Barossa Cheese Company in Angaston is the place to go for all your cheese needs. Looking to get hands on, then try a cooking class with Casa Carboni in Angaston. Kirsten did a cooking class a while back and got lots of tips on pasta making!
